Slated to be the 2nd single from Chris Brown's new album 'Exclusive', 'Take You Down' sees the teen star take on a more mature approach. Prior to now, Brown had played it relatively safe in terms of song subject-matter; yet having turned 18 this year, it was inevitable that he would switch things up with his latest effort. Produced by the Underdogs 'Take U Down' is a slow jam with a kind of throwback vibe to it. This lengthy clip of the track is great and has me questioning why it wasn't chosen as the first single. After hearing this, I'm kinda hopeful that Chris may deliver with this album - which, so far, has been marred by the terrible performance of the generic lead single 'Wall to Wall'.

As Fantasia's 'When I See U' continues to dominate the Billboard R&B chart, a (proper) remix of the song has surfaced. Featuring producer Polow Da Don and Young Jeezy, this version of the track differs quite a bit to the original. Don't be fooled by the faux-original start; when the remix beat kicks in it sounds like a totally different song - despite the same vocals being used. After a couple of listens, I'm liking this one.

Rapper Eve features in the latest issue of HX Magazine. The 'Pitbull In A Skirt speaks on a number of issues including the gay rumors that have followed her and going 'Hollywood'. Check out an extract from the interview below:

How do you feel about criticism from the hip-hop community that you’ve gone Hollywood?
I want somebody to give me an actual definition of “Hollywood.” Hollywood always has this negative connotation attached to it. Yeah, I went and did a show in Hollywood [UPN’s Eve], so if that means me going Hollywood—yeah. As far as the negative connotations, I would hope they are not saying it in that way, and if they are, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. I don’t think I have.

Do you get approached a lot by women?
Yeah, I used to more when I first came out. I’ve had people tell me straight up and down that I was gay—I still get it from people. I get more accusations than I actually do get hit on now.

Did it make you uncomfortable?
Gay women are way more aggressive than men—I will definitely say that. [Laughs] But it doesn’t bother me. I’ve never been disrespected in any way. If I’m like, “Yo, I get it, but I don’t swing that way,” then it’s all love.

Why doesn’t the hip-hop community want gay support?
Trust me, I’ve heard of and know of some instances of people in the industry who are gay or who have participated in certain situations. It’s a male-dominated industry, and for some reason they just don’t want to talk about it. I don’t understand why—I guess it’s a macho thing. It’s ridiculous to me. Me, I love it. The more support for me, the better!

Usher Addresses Tameka Foster Rumors In Open Letter To Fans

Usher is making an attempt to clear up rumors about his upcoming marriage to pregnant celebrity stylist Tameka Foster in an open letter to his fans. The ‘Burn’ singer insist that his fiancee is not ruining his career.

“It has already been announced that I plan to marry this year. However, since my wedding day will be special to Tameka and I, this is information that we would like to keep private. It’s disturbing that the media and bloggers (under the guise as ‘fans’) continuously speculate on the personal aspects of my life, therefore making assumptions and wrong insinuations that my fans are subject to believe.

“I am happy, excited, completely clear and independent on my direction, feelings, decisions and I am NOT BEING LED. Some media and bloggers have been totally intrusive, they have misconstrued aspects of my personal life and, because of this, my ‘true’ fans are not sure about what is fact and what is fiction. There is a difference in stating an opinion versus drawing a conclusion that is incorrect.

“As previously reported, I have NEVER threatened or harassed anyone from any media format – print, radio, television or Internet media. At this point the best thing to say to my fans is just because it sounds enticing and it MAY sound ‘true,’ that does not make it truth. I understand the fact that I must sacrifice some anonymity for the career I love, however some things are personal like having a child or a marriage. These aspects are not for the public and, to me, are sacred. I would hope my privacy in these areas would be respected.”

INSIDER CLAIMS THAT USHER'S ENGAGEMENT IS A FRAUD!!

July 29, 2007. (Originally published March 13, 2007) Last month, MediaTakeOut.com was one of the first places to report that Usher and Tameka Foster had gotten engaged. But we're now forced to question that initial report. That's because a member of Usher's production team has come forward with claims that the R&B sensation may be trying to pull a fast one on the media.

In an exclusive interview, MediaTakeOut.com spoke with a person that is currently working on Usher's upcoming album. And that person suspects that Usher's engagement may be a fraud. The source tells, "There are a bunch of songs on the album that deal with heartbreak. One of them has [Usher] being dumped by an older woman." The tipster continued, "It's just way too convenient that he's singing about breaking up with an older woman on the album and he's engaged to an older woman in real life. It feels like I've been down this road before."

The insider is referring to the pregnancy rumor that surfaced shortly before the release of Usher's last album, Confessions. Before the albums hit stores, Usher's camp released a rumor that he and R&B singer Chilli split after he impregnated another woman. Many believe the rumor helped generate buzz about the album.

But our source isn't a fan of Usher's publicity stunts. The insider explains, "I'm a music purist so I really don't care for [publicity stunts]. Usher makes some really great music so I don't know why he has to use all these gimmicks to create hooplah. All it does is take away from the purity of the sound."

Rihanna Breaks UK Chart Record with 'Umbrella'

After spending it's 10th week at #1 on the Official UK Singles chart, Rihanna's 'Umbrella' has made UK chart history. The massive hit is the longest-running #1 single on the chart in over decade - with its nearest comparator being Wet, Wet, Wet's 1994 smash 'Love Is All Around' which spent 14 weeks in the top spot.

Before I'm labelled a 'hater', I think its a major achievement for Rihanna - one both she and her fans should be proud of. However, it just goes to show how far little talent, good looks and media saturation will take you. Is that what the industry has come to?

Usher's Ex Chilli & Tameka Foster Confrontation

According to In Touch magazine, Usher's ex, Chilli, and fiance Tameka Foster had a run-in at the singer's mom's house. Chilli (36), who remains good friends with Usher's mother Jonetta Patton, is said to have infuriated Foster with her presence:

Tameka walked in and hit the roof. She screamed at Chilli, “Doesn’t your boyfriend have a mom you can visit?” Chilli just told her to grow up and walked out laughing.

Unlike most, I don't despise Tameka - I have no real reason to - but she needs to go sit down somewhere if this is true. There ain't nothing wrong with Chilli visiting Jonetta. With all the drama surrounding Usher and Tameka, I'm wondering how long their relationship will last...

Ja Rule & Lil' Wayne Arrested

Rappers Ja Rule and Lil' Wayne were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a deadly weapon yesterday in separate incidents which both took place in New York yesterday (July 22nd).

Ja Rule, real name Jeff Atkins, initially drew the attention of police officers when his luxury vehicle was stopped for speeding around 10.30pm. When the car was searched, a .40-caliber firearm was found. The 'Mesmerise' rapper as well as two other occupants of the vehicle were consequently arrested and charged.

Later in the evening, Miami-bred rapper Lil' Wayne was arrested after police spotted him and another man smoking marijuana on a tour bus following a concert. When taken into custody and searched, a .40 pistol was found. Both were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana.

When will some of these rappers learn? It's no wonder Hip Hop can't catch a break these days.

Props when props are due; she's a true performer to have recovered like that -as if nothing happened. First Michelle, then Kelly and now Beyonce - it was always gonna happen lol. Usher & Tameka's Wedding is canceled and off

The wedding, scheduled for today between usher and his pregnant fiancee Tameka Foster, has been cancelled according to a statement released by usher's publicist Patti Webster. The statement read:

"It was announced today that the wedding ceremony for Usher Raymond, IV and Tameka Foster was canceled. No additional information will be given regarding the circumstances of the cancellation, but we hope the privacy of this matter will be respected."

The cancellation comes on the heels of a sensational National Enquirer article featuring an interview with Tameka Foster's sister Valencia Foster. In the article, Valencia dishes the dirt on her sister by revealing intimate details of Tameka's prior arrests for "boosting" from department stores. It is well-known within the industry that the celebrity stylist has drawn the ire of fashion houses and high end boutiques by failing to return high priced items loaned to her for her celebrity clients. The items often turned up for sale at Tameka's quarterly word-of-mouth "sample sales" in Atlanta.

Word is the IRS has taken an interest in Tameka's sample sales which were never advertised to the public. One such sample sale included enough high end merchandise to fill an entire 1200 sq. foot store front on Peachtree street for which Tameka took out a short-term lease in 2004.
