Armand Van Helden "I Want Your Soul (Southern Fried)" Rapidshare Music Video&Lyrics

Armand Van Helden
One of Armand Van Helden's invaluable strengths as a dance music producer par excellence is his complete unpredictability. Over the years it's been well nigh impossible to plot his next move, and just when you have him pinned down as a garage house specialist he moves off at a totally different tangent.

Such is the case with his most recent output, which finds him stuck in the quicksand of late 1980s dance. A good thing, when the results are this uplifting. The vocal material is far from original, with Siedah Garrett's 1985 hit Do You Want It Right Now, already plundered last decade by the Degrees of Motion for their own uplifting cover, used as the basis here.

Yet Van Helden puts his own spin on it, with hand claps, chunky beats and fizzing synthesizers all pushing the music, while the "I want your soul" couplet is lifed from the centre of Garrett's chorus and repeated to good effect.

It makes this out as a track you'd willingly hit the dancefloor to, leaving your drink on the side - and for a dance music artist, no praise could surely be greater!

Reverend and The Makers "He Said He Loved Me" Rapidshare Music Video&Lyrics

Reverend and The Makers

FOLLOWING the modest success of their debut single, Heavyweight Champion of the World, Sheffield’s Reverend and the Makers return with their own unique brand of upbeat indie funk.

Frontman Jon McClure’s biting socio-cynicism has helped the Reverends to become one of the most dangerous - and exciting - bands to have grace the conservative commercial charts for some time.

But where the sense of working-class disillusionment and personal regret is ultimately overcome in their debut, Reverend and the Makers’ latest offering, He Said He Loved Me, remains stuck in a self-induced quagmire of domesticity and boredom.

Satire undoubtedly remains the band’s most powerful form of attack, but any lasting message is conclusively lost behind singer Laura Manuel’s crude ‘mockney’ vocal line, and this unfortunately leaves the nasty impression that the Reverends are simply jumping on the Lily Allen/Kate Nash bandwagon.

A strapping, intense 25-year-old, over the past couple of years Jon 'Reverend' McClure has established himself as the don of the Sheffield music scene.

Before he'd even signed a record deal he was selling-out thousand-plus capacity venues in his home city, curating his night Reverend Soundsystem and collaborating, inspiring and conspiring with the Steel City's key guitar-slinging players.

And now? He's unleashed his debut single. A spiralling electro-funk anthem, Heavyweight Champion Of The World is the definitive eleventh commandment: 'Thou shalt not be like everybody else.'

unklejam "What Am I Fighting For" Rapidshare Music Video MV/試聴 視聴 mp3 PV 動画 映画 歌詞/뮤직 비디오/동영상

My first impression of this was that it might be a cash in on the Gnarls Berkley phenomenon, as the vocals are very similar and the dance background is also similar…as a first impression.

Once the track become more established, and certainly after a few plays, I could hear a more 70’s disco and 60’s soul influence, that works well as a modern dance track and given a 21st century electronic sparkle, the backing track really stands out as catchy and very danceable. The vocals, well, yes they do sound similar to Gnarls Berkley, but I can’t deny that they work very well, with simple and catchy lyrics that stand up with some of the best in 60’s and 70’s soul and funk. There were no real b-sides to speak of, as track 2 was an original mix of the lead track (a radio edit) and track 3 was an instrumental, but that really appealed to me, as I could really pick up on the choppy funk guitar and even an 80’s sounding synth. Overall, this is a very good single and one that appeals to my tastes.

Man, you need to check this one out. Totally DVD Clarity!

hilary duff "with love" Rapidshare Music Video MV/試聴 視聴 mp3 PV 動画 映画 歌詞/뮤직 비디오/동영상

The Bottom Line

As she prepares to turn 20 later in the year, Hilary Duff's latest work nearly shouts sexy, adult pop. Gone are the days of bubblegum. Welcome the days of Kylie Minogue-influenced dance music. Last summer we were introduced to the electro-pop Hilary Duff with the single "Play With Fire." Now, on "With Love," released a couple of months in advance of the album Dignity, style and elegance combine with an irresistible hook to make a record difficult for pop radio to ignore.

Pros
  • That bleepy electro beat
  • Crunchy guitar attack
  • Hilary's adult pop vocals
Cons
  • No major negatives here

Description

  • Electronic bleeps with hand-clapping and finger-snapping beats
  • Sexy, sultry vocals
  • Crunchy dance-rock guitar

Guide Review - Hilary Duff - With Love

Although she has 2 #1 pop albums to her credit, pop radio has never really warmed to the charms of Hilary Duff. Perhaps the cold shoulder has been primarily due to Duff's base in Radio Disney support, a kiss of death for some artists trying to reach the mainstream pop market. Regardless of the reason, "With Love" looks poised to break down the walls.

Hilary Duff has built her appeal in the past on a foundation of bubblegum. It evolved into some of the best in the business, but it also prevented much of the pop music establishment from taking her seriously. "With Love" is a new approach.

Electronic blips and bleeps are everywhere. Crunchy, dance-rock guitar underlines the hook, and Hilary Duff sounds like a Kylie Minogue disciple in the making. Since Minogue has never been huge on this side of the Atlantic, the sexy, adult, dance-pop diva vein is not overworked. All signs point to the top 10 for "With Love."
