You might say that the rampant subtitling of Enrique Iglesias' new single 'Do You Know' as 'The Ping Pong Song' is a somewhat cruel exercise in trying to bring down the sometimes reviled son of Julio Iglesias, whose biggest hit to date is the much-used-on-TV-talent-shows 'Hero' or perhaps the really quite catchy dance tune 'Bailamos'.
However, to state that this is cruel would not be quite accurate, as Iglesias himself has utilised the sound of ping pong balls hitting a table instead of a drum sound as the opener to the track, with the sound alternating with proper drums throughout. Indeed, whilst this may seem silly, it actually works pretty well for the song.
'Do You Know' isn't exactly revolutionary music, it's pretty typical Iglesias love song territory, and though catchy and easy on the ears, it's still pretty much the musical equivalent of an over-baked cheese souffle.
